Unnerve is extremely niche. It’s only good use is for a counter to niche berry strats, e.g cheek pouch + recycle (Diggersby, Dedenne) and Belly drum + Gluttony + Priority (Linoone). Too niche to be extremely useful.

These Z-move buffs didn’t age well with Sword and Shield around the corner :(. I was looking forward to use those moves in the newer games. Well, maybe dynamaxing will stick.
It’s a shame Arbok didn’t get much love till Gen 7, since this is one of my favorite Kanto mons.
Slap it up with a Speed Boost/Baton Pass Pokemon as a partner and this thing turns into a beast of a snake!
Overlooked things about Arbok
ARBOK IS KOBRA BACKWARDS
A buff is a buff, you can’t say it’s only a half.
Foo: This Pokémon gets stomping tantrum. How?!??
Ghastly: uses thunder punch.
With Z-Switcheroo, Stomping Tantrum could work really well. Since Switcheroo will always fail, you can guarantee the double damage boost to Stomping tantrum, so I would call that another buff or just a set.
Can you do a video on how talonflame with z bravebird and tailwind in double battles is AMAZING in gen 7? I’ve tested it extensively in the ultra moon battle tree, and it’s one of the best Pokemon sets I’ve ever used. Nobody expects to be nuked by talonflame in gen 7!
Wait you question stomping tantrum but not sucker punch? XD great video btw I actually used an arbok with unnerve in gen 6 doubles! Berries are used quite a lot there and the amount of yache berries I saw were annoying. Getting a coil up or two and blasting all the fairies with funk shot was awesome

I would buff +10 in sp.def and attack for turn Arbok more viable, it really can’t take almost nothing.
How could you leave that important detail until the end?! Why use EQ when your snake can stomp!
i would run an unnerve pyroar in RU. i would switch him in on slurpuffs because they would go for a belly drum but not get their speed boost so they just die to choice specs hyper voice or flamethrower.
Coil+Rest+Shed Skin Arbok is great for getting PU ragequits <3
diglett, mccargo, solrock and lunatone, gastrodon, probopass, amoonguss, STUNFISK, carbink and dunsparce learn stomping tantrum.
They really missed out on giving Arbok a unique & highly useful ability. The Pokemon Company should just go back & rework the: stats, abilities, moves, and/or typing of all the Pokemon to make them more competitively viable (starting w/ some of the more popular ones). They were doing a decent job w/ Megas & regional variants, but they kinda dropped the ball.
Snakes get no love in pokemon! (Even dunsparce/seviper). Only starter and legendary snakes. I know it evolves early so it has low stats compared to even Weezing but hope it gets a new form to make up for this.
I love Z-status moves. I hope Dynamax-Status moves give Pokémon the same kind of options that Z-moves do.
Deserves at least +10 HP, it is a big and long pokemon and it would help it take attacks before using coil

You didn’t mention it, but Stomping Tantrum combos nicely with Sucker Punch. Might be worth running over Earthquake, especially since it also works well against Steel switch-ins who absorb Gunk Shot or Poison Fang.

Use z-stockpile as after using stockpile 3 times normally and then use stomping tantrum for double power after full heal. Easy game

Ok just a rant… Just last week i used arbok for the first time on showdown and yea it was the rest shed skin set… I ENDED UP HAVING 5 FULL TURNS OF SLEEP OH MY HOLY COW, THE OPPOSING LILLIGANT QUIVER DANCED 6 TIMES AND WRECKED MY WHOLE TEAM JUST BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO BANK ON ARBOK WAKING ITSELF UP URGHHHHH
Arbok is so fun and underrated I try my best to make him work :'(.

I generally feel that if ur running the ‘z-switcheroo’ u should run unnerve i played quite a bit of competitive and idk if its just me but new players will always slap berries on basically every pokemon u can also run disable on arbok to counter frosslass from spamming destiny bond (even tho i dont think thats the smartest choice but it seems funny)as ur probably gonna use arbok in pu and frosslass is one of the top threats a coil,beat up set could work too with max hp and spdef and spamming coil while having rest and shedskin can be v annoying maybe a salac berry to outspeed abt everything in pu?(sorry i never rlly played pu much before so idk how thr metagame works)
Edit:forgot to add it has endure to help activate the salac berry.

I still don’t understand how Arbok learns sucker punch…
I had a fairly successful strategy where I paired Unnerve Arbok with a pair of Frisk Pokemon, and I did occasionally manage to block important berries on bulky Pokemon from healing and dying to poison.
Funny, I use him in game with Wrap and what started a mostly a small joke ended up being my new favorite move (well, that honor went to my Empoleon’s Whirlpool, wich I combo with Yawn and Dugtrio, but still).
I really wish Arbok gets a new evolution in Sword and Shield, called Silisab my favourite poison type needs some attention
